Ref. No. 276)This map was originally published by Longman, Rees ,Orme ,
Brown & Greene at Paternoster Row, London In May 1828 and was originally
contained in (or formed part of) Hall's New General Atlas published in 1830.
It was withdrawn from publication one year later. The map is noted for its
greatly exaggerated area of Macquarie Harbour.

very few pre-Cook maps showing Australa. It was produced in 1753 by Jacques
Nicolas Bellin, official Hydrographer to Louis XlV. The coastal note translates:
I suppose that the land of Diemen can join with the land of the Holy Ghost
but this is without proof.   |
